An acrylic on canvas 10 by 12 inches, when I began with the empty
canvas, textured a bit with gesso, though I did have this subject in
mind, the intention was to play with lots of layers of diluted colors,
allowing them to flow around to form patterns of light and shade to
establish the basic composition. Then the patterns led to the placement
of the two subjects of focus. Here I go with my thoughts on this piece.
The bird can fly very high and the fish can swim very deep down, they follow their natural inclination and excel with their strengths. The key to excel and to make our lives more interesting is to look inside of ourselves, to find the strength we are blessed with, for each one of us are born unique. It is best if the realization comes at the right time in one's life, when one is young and has a whole life to explore but it is never too late I guess!

ReplyDeleteGoodness, Padmaja! Your use of color and the added texture just make this piece even more stunning than usual! Have to admit that I just haven't found my strength. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe meaning behind the work always enhances the viewing, especially with this painting. Unfortunately, I believe wisdom comes with age and life experience and many don't realize their full potential until they are older. But better late than never! The bold colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely composition of extremes, Padmaja!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post and an outstanding painting, Padmaja!! I love the rich colors and texture.. Well done.!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful painting with beautiful thought. I wish more and more people would dare to follow their hearts, instead of doing the same old things again and again.

ReplyDeleteThis one is so bold and strong. And so full with inner movement. I want to dive into it. The elements of water and air are moving and mixing. So good to see this painting and so inspiring. I wish your exploration brings you joy and easiness.
The key to excel is in our hands..... very true.
ReplyDeleteAnd identifying our strength and weakness is the first key.
Like that painting with lot of colours. I can make out many more forms in there, apart from the bird and the fish...... but then I always look for some sort of form in any cloud :-)
And our unique lives are really as bright and colorful as the beauty you created. Wonderful painting and words
ReplyDeleteWonderful wonderful art.
ReplyDeleteHi Padmaja,
ReplyDeleteI am totally caught up by the swirls of color in this and the movement it creates reminding me of a cycle, like cycles of life. The swirl of blues in the middle between fish and bird seem to suggest possibility to me. Excellent!

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful tapestry of color, pattern and meaning...I have had several meaningful steps to my life. Each one necessary to achieve the next one, but it takes being able to look back to see how precious each tiny step was. Age has its advantages.
