Acrylic on canvas 28 by 32 inches
This painting is inspired by my visit to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), Bangkok and my sister's photographs of water lilies that she shared recently. (I can't wait to paint them !) Just thought of combining both to see what I could arrive at.It was so much fun to use the pure pigments without any mixing.
Buddha said " A jug fills drop by drop".
I am starting my creative year with this "drop" :-)

How beautiful!! I am caught by the idea of seeing this beneath the surface of the water with a lily in just this spot. Kind of a neat image. I love this piece, Padmaja. How brilliant a composition and so well painted!
ReplyDeletePadmaja, wow, this painting is the harbinger of peace, joy and inner realisation.Padmaja, my dear sister, this is unique.
ReplyDeleteHow creatively appropriate to combine 'lily pads ' with the the image of Buddha! So much symbolism beautifully expressed too. Wish you a year of creativity and happy painting days ;)
ReplyDeleteIt is a very beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteThe colors look so soothing and serene, so suited to the image.
Well done padmaja, a good way to start a new year.
The outcome of your visit to the temple and the sharing of lilies by your sister in the form of a reclining Buddha with a lily theme is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLet the drops soon become a cascade!!

ReplyDeleteOh WOW! I love this piece, Padmaja! It's creative and expressive and the colors and lines are wonderful! I like that quote too, it can be applied to so many situations...
ReplyDeleteBuddha has inspired the creativity of so many artists. This is exceptional. This is so serene. The perspective is so different. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and that you put the reclining Buddha with images of your sister's waterlilies. I love the quote too, something to think about for the new year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous painting and start to the year. The colors are divine. When I was in India I saw many, many water lilies, but they called them lotus. They have a strong spiritual symbolism don't they? Love the patterns you created with color and shapes.
ReplyDeleteThe perspective is what attracts me to this piece. The way you use acrylic feels translucent like watercolor… the buddha is looking over us, I wish I had the wisdom.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous and magical..such a stunning and joyful piece...I love the color of the flower..such a radiant turquoisy-blue..beautifully done!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you many new blessings in 2014! I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful art!!
