Oil on canvas 9 by 12 inches
This is inspired from my picture taken at the redwood forest, San Francisco.
I could spend a whole day watching the water flow so effortlessly among
the rocks. So continuous, without a hitch. The sound of the water is subtle, yet makes a heavy impact on the mind.
It makes me think if it is best to flow along the flow, the flow of life.I have done it most of my life. It is easier to accept things as they come, go on and on. But sometimes I feel we need to flow against the flow if we believe in what we think is right. Then we realize the strength of the flow and our own might. Hoping to find it for myself!

Wonderful. Yes I could just sit there the whole day and listen to the water flowing.
ReplyDeleteHave some snaps of the Redwood forest on which I have yet to write a blog. (priorities keep changing)
Absolutely stunning greens, Padmaja! My favorite color...perfect moss covered stones, a sunlight breakthrough...Just gorgeous all around!
ReplyDeleteA marvelous painting. I am now in a quandary to decide which one is better- the remarkable painting or the philosophical annotation.
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty and serene, you really want to go into this little paradise and be a part of it .
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, cool green space!! Your thoughts entice the onlooker into the painting and a wanting to remain for a while and breath in the serenity! You are a wonderful strong person Padmaja and great source of wisdom/ inspiration for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Padmaja, Love the greens in your painting. So many greens, makes it very pleasing to look at!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful lush greens. Nice...Very Nice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting...
ReplyDeletethanks
Lovely colors especially the green is so soothing:)
ReplyDeleteI love trees, the lines, the linear composition, and I can never get enough of shades of green. I also think your paintings always appear translucent but they are rarely watercolors, love the way you used the oils.
ReplyDeleteThis painting is really quite spiritual. I'm immediately captured by the greens and drawn toward that light in the background, Padmaja.
ReplyDeletebeautiful green

"But sometimes I feel we need to flow against the flow if we believe in what we think is right. Then we realize the strength of the flow and our own might." - I see a poem here to go along with your painting :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, calming image. Whenever I get caught up in something my cousin always tells me to "go downstream", meaning not to fight but to go with the flow.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty here in the greens and blues--I think I could actually sit quietly in this place. I've usually gone with the flow; not sure it was the best choice, but it felt right at the time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, magical and inspiring works. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and wise thoughts as well.

Always so inspiring...serene, peaceful...such gorgeous use of light and the greenery is so magical..you are such a talented artist..breathtaking work!! The flow is our guide on all pathways...so true..thanks for your wisdom!
ReplyDeletevery nice work padma
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely painting! It makes me even more eager for spring to come so I can enjoy our little wooded park and stream. I agree with your thoughts, going with the flow is important when we are stressed, but our strength comes when we push upstream.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and refreshing!
ReplyDeleteIt's very frustrating when I can't paint nicely and often wonder how you all do it so skillfully. Even a light easy painting look nice when you do it and mine looks ugly...:(
Beautiful and soothing.
ReplyDeleteVery inspirational! I wish I can visit Redwood forest, seen a few paintings of yours... Will try in summer!
