I liked the challenge by Suzanne McDermott to raise awareness about the plight of the Gulf of Mexico, here is my small effort towards that. I think, though small, it is a nice way to show our concern for our planet.I decided to do Sea nettles, natural members of the ecosystem and not considered as nuisance until their numbers are extraordinarily high. Quite an uncommon subject to paint:-) I had seen them at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and love them for what they are. This is done from a picture that I took during my visit there. When I looked at their beautiful form and movement, the mystery of creation of life remained unanswered. I also thought that it was a pity to confine them in a space but now I may have to change my perception, I think they are so much more safer there than in the ocean.

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I also looked at Suzanne's post about the gulf oil disaster. I don't understand how we're allowing ourselves to destroy the earth this way... but I DO understand using one's art and creativity to help spread hope for a solution and for a way to save the animals who need our help! Very nice work!

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely picture of an interesting subject. I'm glad to hear of the Spirit of the Gulf challenge. Sending positive thoughts and making art is better than simply feeling heartbroken for the creatures of the gulf.

I live in Florida, close to the Gulf and it has been so disturbing to think of what has happened. I welcome your visits anytime, and love you colorful works.
