God's Abstract

This is an oil on paper sized 9 by 12 inches. The reference was taken from a picture taken by me at Luray Caverns, located in Luray, Virginia. Luray Caverns was discovered in 1878 and is one of Virginia's most famous natural wonders.

It is an amazing experience to see and enjoy the great stalactites, stalagmites and columns located in the caverns. The largest water body in the caverns, the dream lake, reflects a myriad of fantastic forms, reflecting the abundant stalactites hanging from the ceiling.

It appeared to me as if God was in the mood of creating an abstract art, as abstract and complex as a human! Probably the colors, shapes and textures were all pre planned with the finesse of an artist and executed to perfection, resulting in an act of absolute creative intelligent design.. a design so complex and hard to understand :-)

  11. I see more than caverns in this. I see canyons and a swamp and an ant's-eye view of grasses. So many visions this could be. The color and shapes draw me right in, Padmaja. Beautiful.

  17. This one is stunning, Padmaja. I would love to see a huge one like this on my walls. How do you manage to do oils on paper? Im my experience, the oils tend to bleed the paper, leaving a wet-looking mark. Or is this a special paper for oils?
