Hide n Seek

While the kids played "hide and seek" , the adults caught up with a chat... may be a sort of "hide and seek" there, with their words?

I mean, choosing our words carefully is always better than speaking our mind... Like an unknown author said,

"A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life,
A timely word may lessen stress,
A loving word may heal and bless."

This painting is done in acrylic on canvas and was a commission. I had a limited palette in mind and I sketched the scene out of imagination.

By the way, my last post/painting "Motherhood" was sold at the IWC exhibition. It was bought by artist Tammy Watt. Tammy's art is gorgeous and you may enjoy her lovely work here..

Thanks Tammy, for giving my "Motherhood" a place in your home and it is always a great feeling and special when your work is bought by another artist :-)

  1. Congratulations, I know how you must be feeling. It is wonderful to be appreciated by fellow artists. This painting has also come out very well, despite the limitations.
Very true, we must always think before uttering something in a hurry, only to regret it later. Whenever possible it is better to say something encouraging or say nothing. Another thing my mother always used to say, is never ever write anything, that might put you in trouble.
I am really glad for you.

  2. The limited palette gives this beatiful portrait real harmony and gives meaning to the word family.I especially love how the sarees have movement too, which gives a sense of energy to the whole composition.

  3. This is a lovely painting. And I would just love to sit down and have long conversations with you... You think the way I do! The idea that grown-ups still play hide-and-seek with their words. So true! Have a wonderful weekend Padmaja!

  15. Congratulations on the sale of "Motherhood", Padmaja!
This painting of hide and seek brings back so many memories, I could stare at it for hours. I remember our children hiding in the clothes racks of L.S. Ayres and causing my husband and I a panic. I love it that they are hiding in the ladies' skirts. The limited palette reinforced the idea of "Hide and Seek" really well! :)

Yes, carefully selected words...isn't it amazing how a single poorly selected word can do such damage? Thank you for the reminder, I will try harder to take more time to think before speaking or even writing. To not rush and say something I regret.

Also, BIG congratulations on your sale of 'Motherhood' it is a such wonderful piece!
