Desert Gold

Acrylic on canvas 24x32 inches, sold

Wahiba sands from Oman for you to enjoy once again, I had done a similar one, "the couple at Wahiba" long back using acrylic and sand. This time I used acrylic texture gel instead.
Miles and miles of sand that glisten like gold in the hot sun touches one's soul. A feeling of letting go of all the stuff that is engulfing and a sense of oneness with nature empowers you.

An art loving couple from Virginia visiting Oman for their vacation bought this painting, along with the "the couple at Wahiba". The thought of their memories of Oman being cherished through my paintings makes me feel good :-)

  2. I always look forward to your blog posts, padmaja. Partly because of your beautiful artwork - I love the simplicity and rich color in this - and partly because of your beautiful perspective, inspiration, and story telling.

  3. I'm so happy for you to have that experience. That somebody else saw in your work the same feelings and stirrings that inspired you when you painted it, and they felt it so strongly that they had to own the painting as their own. :) That is what makes you a bonafide artist, my friend! To convey those emotions through your work and to have them felt by others. It's a beautiful piece, and reflects not only the golden sand, but your own personal style and passion for your art. Well done!

  5. Wahiba Sands emerges as such a vibrant, alive, radiant place from your painting...and love the shade of electric blue. You have painted the warmth of both the land and the sunlight. Thousands of miles away from Oman, I am feeling nostalgic:)
