A Lily for Buddha

Acrylic on canvas 28 by 32 inches
This painting is inspired by my visit to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), Bangkok and my sister's photographs of water lilies that she shared recently. (I can't wait to paint them !) Just thought of combining both to see what I could arrive at.It was so much fun to use the pure pigments without any mixing.
Buddha said " A jug fills drop by drop".
I am starting my creative year with this "drop" :-)
Wishing everyone a lot of peace and love.

  4. How beautiful!! I am caught by the idea of seeing this beneath the surface of the water with a lily in just this spot. Kind of a neat image. I love this piece, Padmaja. How brilliant a composition and so well painted!

  18. What a fabulous painting and start to the year. The colors are divine. When I was in India I saw many, many water lilies, but they called them lotus. They have a strong spiritual symbolism don't they? Love the patterns you created with color and shapes.

  19. The perspective is what attracts me to this piece. The way you use acrylic feels translucent like watercolor… the buddha is looking over us, I wish I had the wisdom.
