The Ocean is not quiet...

The Early Hours, 8 by 10 inches oil

Serenity, 8 by 10 inches oil

The trip to Hawaii has made me good I guess, I have been actively putting my memories on canvas with my colors and thoughts. More and more painting has helped me to look past all the health issues that have been bothering me for long, put more enthusiasm to set a goal for painting almost everyday.
Thanks for looking.

  3. I have a question. Why rely on memories? Why not capture the beautiful scenes in your camera and see them to refresh your memory. The painting can still be imaginative without being a replica.

All the paintings are very nice and reflect the majesty of the sea.

  4. KP: A possible answer to your question (though not asked to me)
The camera can catch only the picture as it was, but it cannot catch the feelings going through her mind as she watched the scene.
Through these paintings i think she has created multiple number of thoughts going through her mind at that particular moment, all at once.
Such memories can never be evoked by just capturing a scene in a camera.
However, I do agree with your point, as to people like me photos are enough to bring back happy memories, but that is because I am not a painter like padmaja.

  6. Each painting so beautiful with it's own color temperature and the feelings each evoke. I like the "Yellow Clouds", but it makes me feel on edge, like a storm is coming. Serenity and The Early Hours both make me feel calm. I love the colors in the Gateway and The Last Minute.
It does seem like your trip to Hawaii has helped you paint more.

  10. Hi Padmaja! I would have sworn I commented on these gorgeous pieces! I had changed my blog address (again), and had to once again recreate by blog roll. I am not sure if that caused the snafu in my comments but I love these pieces...I think that top piece is my favorite because of all its glorious color! I easily see why your blog is titled as it is. I love your upbeat view of the world!! Sending you warm hugs!

  17. Early Hours is my fav. It has a more unusual viewpoint which has me feeling I could topple on down into the waves. . How did you do that? Love all the colors and the beautiful harmonies you created.

  18. Truly, Padmaja, that first painting The Early Hours took my breath away! You have such a gift for conveying the emotions evoked by each specific time and place. They are all so beautiful, but The Early Hours and The Last Minute, with the sun's glow on the rocks... they're so exquisitely beautiful! Wow!
