In the mood for a quick sketch

8 by 10 inches oil on gesso board
Getting back to painting again. out of sheer will power. I dont know if it is good to push oneself some times when you have a hurdle to cross but nevertheless I decided to push myself, to feel good, to be constructive and forget brooding and self pity! I am thinking of introducing figures in to my landscapes and seascapes, it is a challenge for me right now but I thought some challenge was missing in my work, it was getting very easy to do those seascapes, so here she is in to my landscape. She probably wanted to sketch alone or may be she is expecting some friends soon, I do not know,  the story gets better with your imagination thrown in! Thanks for looking.

  1. Welcome back. Same here - dead season in June, only will power helps to get back. Figures is challenge, happy practicing! As for me, I punish myself with portraits.

While travelling in her car she lost in the gorgeous greenery. So she wanted to absorb the beauty of the place.Taking her painting implements she got engrossed in her art.

  3. I've also not had time/motivation to blog this summer but for different reasons I think. Part of blogging for me is therapeutic, maybe for you too? It's interesting to see your figure alone in the wide open landscape space.

  5. I'm glad you're back and pushing yourself. Lovely painting. I have so much more respect for oil painters now that I'm trying it myself. It's hard. Hope you are doing well, Padmaja.

  8. I think if you were motivated to try and pushing is good, but listen to your inner voice, dearest Padmaja, and listen carefully. Your ordeal was a profound one.
I love the painting, and yes...starting to introduce the figure can be challenging but rewarding.
Hope your move is a happy one. Is this Oman or from a photo from all your travels?

  9. Oh, I love the story in this. The accentuation of loneliness by placing that small dot of a car in the background really ads to this. Perfect. It also is completely peaceful, Padmaja.
