Harvest

Harvest, 8 by 10 inches , oil
One of my passions apart from the art aspect of my life is to travel on road through out India, in particular  the South of which I feel part of. Recently was on such a trip to Mandya and I thoroughly enjoyed getting down from our car now and then and walking in to the fields, meeting real people, that slog on the fields. It was so beautiful to see the women and the birds together, the birds were not shooed away, but was considered part of the set up! The yellow paddy fields against the greens looked attractive. Of course the road was absent in the real scenario, but I added to my composition.

  6. Padmaja, I love the colors and the addition of the road was a perfect idea. Like Irina, I can feel the warm weather. The weather here is teasing us. It starts to warm up and then the next day it's cool again.

  9. This is a wonderfully stong and well designed painting.
I feel is is more abstract than your usual work and how very clever to place the road further back than the usual entrance into a painting. Great addition.
I marveled at the beautiful colors of the saris/tunics when I was in India and even in the fields, the workers would glow like precious stones.
Thanks for bring back good memories.

This is something that I do on most of my journeys... get down from the vehicle and take in the nature.

  11. This work connects the onlooker with nature. You have an amazing sense of colors. Though the colors are not exactly natural they convey whatever you tell them to convey. They seem to be your slaves. Fabulous.
