Conversation
Being able to carry on a comfortable conversation with any acquaintance is a matter of practice and following certain rules of the game. However, with friends, the conversations have no rules, any topic under the sun is easy and spontaneous! I have tried to catch one such conversation between two friends. In oil on canvas sized 5" by 7". I deliberately tried to do a people subject today as my brain is tending too much towards abstracting anything that I am looking at around me and wanted to slow down a bit on that :-)

This is wonderful! Your women look so natural and the scene so real. I love the soft colors. They help make the mood of friendship and love. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteVery well done, Padmaja. I love the composition of this piece and I get a sense of both old and new for some reason. I like it!

ReplyDeleteAha! Very familiar! Need to spend time here but this brings back a smile and familiar sounds...Chitra
ReplyDeleteYou managed to capture the naturalness of two people chatting casually. I love the colors you used. It is good now and then to try something different. Nice work.

This work of yours has so much warmth in it. The colors are just right. You can actually feel the sunlight through the window. The atmosphere is just as you have described. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteso very natural looking ! You have succeeded beautifully in showing how comfortable they are with each other. I love the details -the bag slipping off the shoulder, the the way the lady is standing and holding her hands.
ReplyDeleteYou've caught that unguarded honesty between two good friends. Wonderful painting!

ReplyDeleteFor me, painting people is so heavy task. Glad to see that you do it great. And about the way to calm down by painting: I feel disturbed and unsatisfied if I do not take paper for more then 3 days, looks like the colors hooked me :-))
ReplyDeleteAnd how did you managed to make it sunny from the window?
Great job all the way around - composition, color, light. You've captured this comfortable moment beautifully. I'm with Irina in wondering how you made the light come through the window - very well done!
