Mumbai Dreams

A different cup of tea for me.. an abstract in acrylics done with a palette knife. I have been living in Mumbai for some time now. Mumbai's spirit is amazing! It is the city of dreams where thousands come in a day from different cities and villages to achieve something in life, aspire to be successful. Irrespective of caste or class, people have their own tall dreams in this city. The most innovative person I have even seen on a Mumbai street is the road side barber who sets up his shop right on the road side path, with just a chair, and a mirror! Talk about optimism!

  1. Love your thoughts on the spirit of Mumbai, Padmaja. I also love the big city feel of this piece. The perspective makes me think of the hectic pace of city life and the big business collective that resides within. Lovely!

  2. Mornin' Padmaja,
Sounds like that barber is material for you next painting! Your city view is wonderfully done. I love the way you make the building flux. Aren't our lives always in flux? They say if something doesn't bend it will break. Enjoy your day.

  3. Hi Padmaja, yes there is a feeling here in this painting of a big city with a warm heart. I have read about it a bit and have also seen Bride and Prejudice where they dance in the streets. Enjoy your vibrant city!

  7. I love the upward drive of your buildings. They really express your description of the city! The road side barber is fortunate to live where he can do this without belonging to a union :O)
