Acrylic on water color paper 7 by 9 inches
Recently I had a great time traveling to Italy, we covered quite a lot
from Rome, Venice, Sienna to Florence and ended our trip with a
memorable spiritual experience at the Basilica of San Francesco at
Assisi in Perugia.I came back with a lot of pictures taken, hoping to
paint, but I do not know how much justice I am going to make!
One of my childhood desire was to enjoy a gondola ride and I never hoped that I would hop in to one some day. Here is an attempt to paint the view of the Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute,(one of the most significant and beautiful landmark in Venice), from the gondola ride across the Grand Canal. I struggled to let go of details, that was the hardest part for me with this painting. Enjoying the view was a moment of joy and dream come true... the painting time itself was a sort of a healer :-)

Padmaja!! This is fabulous! And I was thinking that you have wonderful details in this piece and how on earth did you manage them all? Not sure if this is sunrise or sunset but it sure is beautiful. I love the pink in the water reflecting the rising/setting sun's last gasps.
ReplyDeleteI really like your choice of colors and the sky is just beautiful. Bravo for your fine work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Padmaja!! I love your choice of tranquil colours and the sky reflected on the buildings and water!! You've struck an excellant balance between detail and expression! Painting does indeed heal,so keep painting. : )

ReplyDeleteAwesome work padmaja!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful scene, Padmaja. I, too, would like to go to Venice and my first thought would be to ride on a gondola, having seen them in most Venice paintings. Just seems like the thing to do. I cannot imagine streets of water. Every home must be full of humidity. I can imagine your frustration trying to simplify the details. You did great!!!!!
ReplyDeletenice job padmaja!
