“A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.”
― Dave Meurer
The new year for me started in a positive way with getting to spend quality time with family visiting us after 2 long years and two of my paintings getting sold at the Art 100×100” exhibition at Bait Al Zubair Museum, that showcased 100 pieces of art by Muscat-based artists for sale at 100 rials each ($250) with the intention to raise funds for the Oman Cancer Association. This compassionate and creative effort was initiated by Ibrahim Gailani. I am glad that I could be part of it.
That is a nice quote. To see the perfections in an imperfect man is the key to a joyful married life. The painting of the couple with a single umbrella speaks high of togetherness.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you too contributed to a good cause through your paintings.
I love this latest painting, Padmaja, as well as your accompanying thoughts. Would that the whole world could learn to come together in the same ways. Congratulations on your two sold pieces. They do look fabulous on that wall too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sale, and I LOVE what you said about marriage. The acceptance and the compromise and the appreciation of the other as they are... Such wisdom in that. The painting is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is beautiful. What I liked more is the description you have given about it... I loved every word you said about two people being together..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy making art and yes congratulations for the grand start of the year with a sale... A sale always encourages an artist more for the appreciation for the art work than the monitory value of the art piece.
Alovely little painting and a beautiful thought to go with it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sales Padmaja!! I love this piece, there is a timeless quality to your work that is so attractive and the meaning gives so much more depth.Your work is in layers of beautiful brushwork and spirituality!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start the new year selling two painting...may this be a good omen for the rest of the year :-) Your painting shows intimacy and a close couple, a beautiful and 'simple' piece ! xx
ReplyDeleteI really like this painting. Makes me think of my own Mother and Father and my Grandparents, too. I especially like the blue colors around it with a dash of white hitting the umbrella. It makes me sense truth and a bit of that devine light coming through.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sales of your paintings, Padmaja.
What a wonderful quote. And congratulations on the art sales, such an important cause and donations really can make a difference in finding a cure. Your painting is striking in it's simplicity, the background makes it all come together for me. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when arranged marriage were laughed off, and looked down upon by people with so called modern thoughts. They strongly believed that they must know the person they were going to spend their lifetime, that the marriage can be a success only if two people were in love before the marriage.
ReplyDeleteWell arranged marriages have remained strong, and even youngsters are realizing its durability, and are accepting it with a little modification.
One can see its influence , by the birth of so many matrimonial sites, offering endless choices, making it possible for people to interact and know their options and tie the knot.
Your painting has aptly brought out the beauty of arranged marriages. Our parents, our grandparents and many of us too are living proof that it can work beautifully.
It is so good to know that the New year started off so well for you, with sale of 2 painting for a good cause.
Glad to hear you could spend some fun time with your family too.
All the best Padmaja!
