The spirit of the Gulf

I liked the challenge by Suzanne McDermott to raise awareness about the plight of the Gulf of Mexico, here is my small effort towards that. I think, though small, it is a nice way to show our concern for our planet.
I decided to do Sea nettles, natural members of the ecosystem and not considered as nuisance until their numbers are extraordinarily high. Quite an uncommon subject to paint:-) I had seen them at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and love them for what they are. This is done from a picture that I took during my visit there. When I looked at their beautiful form and movement, the mystery of creation of life remained unanswered. I also thought that it was a pity to confine them in a space but now I may have to change my perception, I think they are so much more safer there than in the ocean.

Master

This is a quick work done on paper sized 8" by 8 "in water color and pastels.
Just an exercise to turn some thoughts in to color! When I feel like doing nothing for a while, I stand in my kitchen balcony and observe the road. There are hundred different activities going on the busy road that feed food for my thoughts and a daily activity that has caught my attention is this man who walks his dog every morning. What I found funny is that, a cute street dog follows them faithfully. The man doesnt care but his dog turns his head once, as if to say.. "well, I have a loving master, who takes care of me well, pity, you dont have one! " and continues to walk away. The cutie pie keeps following them up to some distance( probably wants to reply " Oh, I was only following to say that I have all the freedom in the world because I am my own master!") and returns. May be I am reading too much in to it, may be he is only trying to befriend the master and his dog :-)
