Idyll

Idyll, 8 by 10 inches oil
This was done from a bag full of old photos that I have been safeguarding for years now! My brother and sister left home 30 years back,to make their new home in the US. Those were not the digital days and they used to send me tons of photos that I could enjoy, this place was some where in Colorado and I dont remember what exactly my brother wrote about it. But the picture motivated me to take out my paints!

  2. I love the texture on this painting, and the flow of lines back and forth. The colors, intermixed with your own unique way of seeing the world... it's gorgeous!

  3. Beautifully painted Padmaja! I love all the green. Colorado is a very favorite place of mine. It is the next state west of Kansas where I live and we can go from very very flat land to high, majestic mountains in about eight hours. We honeymooned there and took our boys there on many vacations. Thanks for prompting the memories.

You must miss your brother and sister a lot! So far away!

  9. I really like the composition of this one that draws me right along the waterway to the background trees, Padmaja. I also want to touch this. Love your impasto paintings!

  14. I love the color and wonderful texture in this one, Padmaja, I am moved that you would keep the photos they sent you. Colorado is really beautiful and you managed to capture some of that particular green that is so abundant there most of the year.

  18. I love this painting! Green is the most difficult color for me, it can be so artificial and dull. But here, everything is different. Breathing, fresh and so lively. Great work.

  19. Padmaja, as I'm sure you can tell, I've been reading your blog through... from the beginning... kind of like a novel. When I find someone whose writing (and art, but it really doesn't have to be about art) I enjoy, I love to do that. I love watching the progression. This technique of using a palette knife is fairly new for you. (Yes, I know it isn't any more as we're in 2017, but remember, I'm time traveling... I'm still back in 2014 with you. :) I think it's your best work. I hope that as I continue into "the future" for me here, but your more recent past through 2015-2107, that I see more and more of it. I don't feel the need to comment on every painting, but I have wanted to on almost all of those done in this style.
Also, I love that you round out your character, the shepherdess. She's just a perfectly placed red splash of color... until you remind us... wait... that may have been the painting before... anyway... you remind us that she may have her worries, but all seemed so peaceful. Suddenly, I see her as a whole person... care about her story.
I'm enjoying my journey through your art, your years.
