The Ocean Moods

"Watching over", 8 by 10 inches oil on canvas board

"Morning drill", 8 by 10 inches oil on canvas board

"Early Waves", 5 by 7 inches oil on masonite board

"The day begins", 5 by 7 inches oil on masonite board

Just in the mood for some ocean. The first two were done from my trip to the pacific coast. The last two were done closing my photo album and opening my imagination ! Hope you enjoy! Here is what the gull probably is saying :-)

Standing alone I watch
The waves eternal and infinite
I can't decide
If it is tranquility
Or chaos.

Buon giorno, Venice!

Acrylic on water color paper 7 by 9 inches

Recently I had a great time traveling  to Italy, we covered quite a lot from Rome, Venice, Sienna to Florence and ended our trip  with a memorable  spiritual experience at the Basilica of San Francesco at Assisi in Perugia.I came back with a lot of pictures taken, hoping to paint, but I do not know  how much justice I am going to make!

One of my childhood desire was to  enjoy a gondola ride and I never hoped that I would hop in to one some day. Here is an attempt to paint the view of  the Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute,(one of the most significant and beautiful landmark in Venice), from the gondola ride across the Grand Canal. I struggled to let go of details, that was the hardest part for me with this painting. Enjoying the view was a moment of joy and dream come true...  the painting time itself was a sort of a healer :-)

The Early Burst

An oil on canvas 16 by 20 inches. I saw this dramatic blaze in the sky during my morning walk near our home, the patterns of light were almost straight and parallel, the sky looked abstracted. I stopped walking and stood for a few minutes to enjoy..I did feel a kind of spiritual energy from this burst of light reinforcing the omnipresence of God , essential to keep my spirits boosted for the day! I have incorporated the light that I saw in to the  clear, almost cloudless sky at Quantab Beach.I finished the painting with oil and then used oil sticks( not pastels) to give some texture.Hope you enjoy:-)
