On the way to Mysore

The scare crow and the crow, 8 by 10 inches, oil
During our recent trip to T Narsipura in Mysore, we stopped by a few fields and enjoyed the views. The intention was to visit a temple, but we ended up spending a lot more time in the nearby fields.
Do the scarecrows really scare the crows? I dont think so! We enjoyed the crow sitting fearlessly on the scare crow and it was an amusing sight.

The Marigolds couple, 8 by 1o inches , oil
We found this couple working passionately with their blooms early in the morning. Very much in their present moment, they seemed to be enjoying every bit of what they were doing. Later on I talked to them and they matter of factually said that all their focus was on the quality of what they grew and not on how much they were going to sell, obviously there was a truck load of the flowers. How wonderful to do one's best without worrying about the end result!

  2. Remarkably beautiful paintings.I could not but smile at the irony of a crow sitting on scare crow. The one on marigold blooms and the write up on the admirable and contended couple touched my heart.

  5. I like the way you compose your landscapes, with the colors moving fluidly across the canvas... it's very soothing to the eye, but exciting and full of life at the same time. I like the work ethic of those flower growers too! A good inspiration for all of us!

  10. I love everything about this painting. The colors, the design and the texture.
It was so nice for me to read that the couple loved their work. Makes a difference. I have problems sometimes when field workers are shown in a decorative way as if their sweat and toil mean nothing. Our cotton and chili picking area here has lovely colors but I really feel for the workers and their back breaking job so just can't bring myself to sit and paint it v

  12. I can't answer your question about crows and scarecrows, but laughed that the crows were sitting on the scarecrow.
I like both these paintings. That red band in the 2nd painting draws my eye right to it. I love the composition of both. And the texture of both.
And once again I learned something from your post. I learned where Mysore was. So thanks!

  20. Great that you documented your journey in your art. As always such lively color and you seem to have changed style a little with a thicker layer of paint. Very interesting.
