The scare crow and the crow, 8 by 10 inches, oil
During our recent trip to T Narsipura in Mysore, we stopped by a few fields and enjoyed the views. The intention was to visit a temple, but we ended up spending a lot more time in the nearby fields.
Do the scarecrows really scare the crows? I dont think so! We enjoyed the crow sitting fearlessly on the scare crow and it was an amusing sight.
The Marigolds couple, 8 by 1o inches , oil
We found this couple working passionately with their blooms early in the
morning. Very much in their present moment, they seemed to be enjoying
every bit of what they were doing. Later on I talked to them and they
matter of factually said that all their focus was on the quality of what
they grew and not on how much they were going to sell, obviously there
was a truck load of the flowers. How wonderful to do one's best without
worrying about the end result!
I really like the lone tree in the first painting, it looks so real.
ReplyDeleteRemarkably beautiful paintings.I could not but smile at the irony of a crow sitting on scare crow. The one on marigold blooms and the write up on the admirable and contended couple touched my heart.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your colors/palette is glorious, Padmaja! I know this trip had to be fun with such beautiful sights!
ReplyDeleteFantastic color and texture! Loved your commentary as well.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you compose your landscapes, with the colors moving fluidly across the canvas... it's very soothing to the eye, but exciting and full of life at the same time. I like the work ethic of those flower growers too! A good inspiration for all of us!
ReplyDeleteI really like the technic you're using to create these thick layers and your wonderful warm colors , two great landscapes. And I really like the story of the two passionate workers , this is how it should be !
ReplyDeleteI am not sure which I enjoy more - the beautiful, richly textured and colored paintings or the quirky, real life stories you share about what inspired them. Just keep em coming.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful paintings, Padmaja. I love the first one for the strong colors and texture.. SO beautifully painted!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful landscape painting...
ReplyDeletethanks
I enjoyed your stories lot...thanking you for sharing your experience
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this painting. The colors, the design and the texture.
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice for me to read that the couple loved their work. Makes a difference. I have problems sometimes when field workers are shown in a decorative way as if their sweat and toil mean nothing. Our cotton and chili picking area here has lovely colors but I really feel for the workers and their back breaking job so just can't bring myself to sit and paint it v
Gorgeous colours and such beautiful texture, your paintings are a real joy to behold!!
ReplyDeleteI can't answer your question about crows and scarecrows, but laughed that the crows were sitting on the scarecrow.
ReplyDeleteI like both these paintings. That red band in the 2nd painting draws my eye right to it. I love the composition of both. And the texture of both.
And once again I learned something from your post. I learned where Mysore was. So thanks!

Colors! They sing. And great thick textures, and composition.
ReplyDeleteI like the story of these people, wish I could be the same.
Such beautiful compositions, Padmaja! Missed seeing these posts due preoccupation:)
ReplyDeleteLovely painting Padmaja, a composition" à la Van Gogh "! :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, Padmaja, your use of color is beautifully vibrant. I love to enlarge your paintings just to study all the texture work. It fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteI like long drives, especially when the pathway is beautiful...
ReplyDeleteYour painting looks vibrant.. Could feel that you had a great time!
I love the compositions in both the paintings and can imagine them on Mysore Road :) it's funny how the crow is sitting on the scarecrow !!! The colors sing too and as always I think the textures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat that you documented your journey in your art. As always such lively color and you seem to have changed style a little with a thicker layer of paint. Very interesting.
